The Scottish Motor Commerce Affiliation (SMTA) has appointed Alan Gall as its new CEO.
Gall replaces Sandy Burgess who has stepped down after a decade main the South Queensferry-based organisation.
He brings 35 years of expertise within the motor trade having labored within the UK with Arnold Clark and within the Center East with corporations, together with Mitsubishi Motors and Toyota.
Earlier than returning to the UK, he was model director for Rolls-Royce in Saudi Arabia.
“I would like to commend Sandy for his vision and leadership over the last ten years which has left the SMTA in a robust and secure position with a bright future,” mentioned Gall.
“Now, as I embark on this new era at the SMTA, it is important to remind our 1,300 plus members we are here to encourage, promote and protect their interests.”
“As Scotland’s largest motor trade body, we have a huge role to play in how we can assist our members whether it be the largest motor groups or a small MOT station in a remote part of the country.”
“With around one in eight people in Scotland employed in the motor industry or related trades, I will also be looking to work with government, other trade bodies and relevant associations to influence and shape the future of our industry.”
Gall mentioned he needed to be a voice not just for the commerce members but additionally for most of the people:
“The overwhelming majority of most of the people are prospects of SMTA members, and on the finish of the day SMTA members wish to present the perfect service doable for his or her prospects.
“As the trade body representing our members, it is imperative we also provide some representation on behalf of the public.”
